portobello and seitan stroganoff
the recipe is from "vegan with a vengeance" and it takes some time to make but i love it. i wish i could get a picture that better captures its yumminess :)
the seitan is made from scratch, and the pasta is low-carb (and i believe part whole wheat) linguine broken up in thirds.
substitutions and bummers (for my own memory): cooking times for sauteeing and reducing shoulda been shortened because our pans seem to hold heat really well. yellow mustard used for dijon (how white trash!!). white wine used for burgundy. accidentally boiled it a bit during the last step with seitan and peas; doesnt taste too bitter, but it may have been better if it hadn't happened!
357/365 - Pasta making
Kristel made pasta for our foodies night. When she said that she's just going to make the dough and put it in the fridge, I asked if I could swing by earlier to see how it's done since I've never made fresh pasta before. So here it is, I was trying to help make the pasta and thought, why not get my 365 out of the way too? :p
I love freshly made pasta. Yum... Now that I've seen how easy it is to make it (and the trick to dry it), I totally will do it the next time I have pasta. Well, provided that I get myself a pasta machine first. ;-)
Oh, I love my foodie friends! :D
